Swara Vidyā · Dubai & online · free 45-minute session

Right now, one nostril is doing most of the work.

It switches sides every 45 to 65 minutes, all day, and it changes what you're good at while it does. Almost nobody notices. Check yours — it takes five seconds.

The five-second test

01Put a finger just under your nose, horizontally.
02Breathe out through your nose, normally. Don't force it.
03Feel which side the air moves more freely through.
Left — Ida · lunarRight — Piṅgalā · solarEven, or I can't tell

That was five seconds of it. The free session is forty-five.

Why it matters

You have been fighting the tide without knowing there was one.

The tradition holds that one channel runs cool, inward and receptive, the other warm, outward and active — and that they trade places on a clock you can learn to read. Most of the days that go badly are days spent doing the wrong thing at the wrong end of that cycle.

11:40 pm

Tired, and completely awake

Body finished hours ago. The mind will not close the tabs. You lie there running tomorrow.

3:15 pm

The floor drops out

Same time every day. You reach for the third coffee, get thirty minutes back, and pay for it at midnight.

Before the call

Braced, and not sure why

Chest tight, breath high and shallow. You go in anyway and spend the next hour recovering from it.

Inside a single swara

Sixty minutes, unevenly divided

Each side does not simply switch on. Classically it moves through five elements in fixed proportion. Once you can feel this, you stop guessing at your own state.

What you walk away able to do

Not theory you nod along to. Six things you can use the same week, in the order you'll learn them.

01

Read your own channel in three breaths

No device, no app, no mirror after the first week. You will know which side is running the moment you think to ask.

02

A way to settle at night

The classical method for opening the lunar channel when the mind won't stop. You can try it the night of the free session.

03

Something to do with the afternoon drop

What the texts prescribe for the low hours, and why it lands differently than caffeine does.

04

Timing effort and rest deliberately

When to take the hard meeting, when to eat, when to train, and when the answer is simply wait forty minutes.

05

Nāḍī Śodhana, taught properly

The balancing breath most people do wrong — correct ratio, correct hand, correct stopping point.

06

The five tattvas as observation

The elemental sequence inside each swara, learned by feeling it in your own breath rather than memorising a diagram.

Questions

I couldn't tell which nostril was open.

Common, and not a problem — it means the difference is subtle right now, or the test needs a finer method. The first fifteen minutes of the free session is exactly that method. Almost everybody finds it once they know what they're feeling for.

Do I need any yoga experience?

None. Level 1 assumes nothing but curiosity and a willingness to observe your own breath. No flexibility, no fitness, no prior practice. If you already have a practice, this goes underneath it.

Is this religious?

It comes from the tantric and yogic traditions, and we teach it from the source texts rather than diluting it. But the practice itself is observational. You are invited to test everything against your own experience rather than to believe anything.

Is this a treatment for insomnia or anxiety?

No, and we won't present it as one. This is a contemplative practice for self-observation and self-regulation, not medical care. If something is affecting your health, see a doctor — and keep seeing them.

Can I join from outside Dubai?

Yes. Every session runs live online alongside the in-person cohort, so you can train from anywhere in the UAE or beyond. Same teacher, same session, same follow-up.

What happens after the free session?

Nothing automatic. We explain Level 1 in the last ten minutes, you take the link if you want it, and if you don't you keep the two techniques anyway. No calls, no chasing.

Swara Vidyā is taught as a contemplative practice for self-observation. It does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment.

One last thing

Check your nostril again.

If it has turned since you opened this page, you have just watched the cycle work. That is the whole practice — and the beginning of learning to use it.
